Celtic linked with Caulker move

CELTIC could look to bring in Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker, as Brendan Rodgers seeks to bolster his backline.

Caulker, who began his career at Spurs, joined QPR in 2014 but has made just 35 appearances, spending time on loan at Southampton and Liverpool.

And the 24-year-old centre half could look to leave Loftus Road permanently, and the chance to link up again with Rodgers could convince Caulker to head north. (Daily Record)

Galatasary eye Johansen swoop

TURKISH giants Galatasaray have been linked with a summer move for Celtic midfielder Stefan Johansen.

Johansen, who excelled in his first full season at Parkhead but failed to reproduce that form last season, is reportedly wanted by several Bundesliga sides as well as Galatasaray.

The 25-year-old Norwegian’s contract is up next summer but talks over a new deal have stalled. (Scottish Sun)

Warburton ‘can be England manager’

KENNY Miller believes Mark Warburton will go on to become manager of England.

Miller feels that Warburton ticks all the boxes as the FA seeks a successor to Roy Hodgson after the country’s Euro 2016 exit.

Miller added: “Manager of England in the future? I don’t see why not, but it’s maybe too early. Hopefully he will do 12 years at Rangers first!” (The Scotsman)

Gers miss out on duo

RANGERS have been beaten by Peterborough to Barnet youngster Matty Stevens, who joined the Posh on a three-year deal.

Stevens, who had netted an astonishing 56 goals last season, had been linked with Rangers last month.

And the Ibrox club also look set to miss out on Livingston youngster Matthew Knox, with the 16-year-old likely to join a Championship club in England. (Various)

Hibs boss blasts McDonald over ‘U-turn’

NEIL Lennon has claimed that Hibs pulled the plug on a deal for Scott McDonald, after the Australian striker’s agent attempted to renegotiate an agreed deal.

Lennon said: “Terms had been agreed, but Scott and his representatives came back to renegotiate and we decided to withdraw the offer. The board and I will not be messed around with in negotiations, and we will now pursue other targets.”

McDonald had insisted he had re-signed at Motherwell ‘out of love for the club’. (The Scotsman)

Celtic winger joins Dundee on loan

CELTIC have loaned out winger Michael Duffy to Dundee until the end of the season.

The former Derry city man joined Celtic in 2015 but spent time on loan at Alloa and is yet to make an appearance for the Celtic first team. (Various)

Hibs ‘keeper to Southend?

MARK Oxley has been linked with a move to Southend United, after the Shrimpers lost first choice goalie Daniel Bentley to Brentford.

Southend boss Phil Brown didn’t want to give too much away but did say: “We’re in talks with a goalkeeper I know very well, having worked with him towards the start of his career.”

Although not confirmed, it is believed that the ‘keeper - who did not play for an English club last season - is Oxley, who worked with Brown at Hull during his early years. (Echo News)
