Deila aware of rebuild need

RONNY Deila has admitted he needs to rebuild the Celtic side, after watching them crash out of the Champions League to Legia Warsaw and miss out on a £15m windfall.

The Hoops failed to score at Murrayfield as they were beaten 2-0 by a slick Legia outfit, losing 6-1 on aggregate.

And Deila could see Fraser Forster and Virgil van Dijk pack their bags if the right team comes in.

Both have been linked with a string of top sides in the past few weeks including Southampton, Hamburg and Sevilla.

Deila said after the defeat: “I have to build a new team. This year, it has not been good enough for the Champions League. It could be more difficult to attract new players now that we are not in the Champions League, but we will see.” (The Scotsman)

Rangers ponder new £4m share issue

RANGERS have confirmed they hope to launch a £4 million share issue as the cash-strapped club seeks fresh investment.

Chief executive Graham Wallace admitted in his business review that the Ibrox outfit may turn to existing shareholders to help meet the shortfall in their revenue stream.

That came after it was revealed the club had burned through almost £70 million in the 18 months since it was reformed following liquidation.

Now the Light Blues’ directors have confirmed they are now looking to raise fresh investment from institutional investors such as Blue Pitch Holdings and Margarita Holdings.

The latest update from the club revealed only about half of last season’s 34,000 tickets had been renewed.

Earlier this year, the club were forced to take a £1.5 million loan out from Sandy Easdale and wealthy supporter George Letham to avert another financial disaster.

The new share issue will not open the door to former director Dave King. (The Scotsman)

Hearts train with 10 men

HEARTS have been training with a 10-man team - just in case they have a man sent off in their Championship opener against Rangers at Ibrox.

Robbie Neilson admitted the unorthodox method yesterday, adding: “We know what it’s like when we go through there.”

Hibs won’t appeal Handling red

HIBS attacker Danny Handling will miss the Easter Road side’s next two matches after the club chose not to appeal his straight red for a challenge on David Templeton.

Kiss flies back to Staggies to win more caps

CARDIFF midfielder Filip Kiss arrived back in Dingwall yesterday with the intention of claiming more caps for his country.

The Slovakian international scored six goals in 17 matches for the Staggies last season and his form earned him a call up to the national side.

And now Kiss is keen to add to his cap collection. (Various)
