Vorm linked with Celtic move

TOTTENHAM Hotspur goalkeeper Michel Vorm is the latest name to be linked with Celtic amid reports the Hoops are on the lookout for a goalkeeper.

Dutch international Vorm, who played under Brendan Rodgers at Swansea, could be tempted to leave White Hart Lane if Spurs bring in Espanyol ‘keeper Pau Lopez.

Vorm, 32, has made 21 appearances for Spurs but has appeared just five times in league matches and could look to reunite with his former boss in Glasgow. (Various)

Rangers demand talks over Cup Final report

RANGERS chairman Dave King has vowed to seek answers on what he branded ‘inconsistencies and inaccuracies’ in the report into last season’s Scottish Cup final.

The Ibrox club hope to meet with Sheriff Principal Edward Bowen, who authored the report, SFA chief Stewart Regan and Compliance Officer Tony McGlennan to ‘demand clarity’.

King added: “I think we were very disappointed. What we were hoping to get out of this report were a recognition of what actually happened on that day, some form of ownership of what happened on the day, and then a way forward to make sure it doesn’t happen. We feel there is a number of issues to be addressed by the board, but it is something we would rather raise with the authorities first.” (Evening Times)

Davis laughs off Celtic link

SOUTHAMPTON ace Steven Davis has laughed off speculation linking him with Celtic, insisting ‘there’s only one team in Glasgow and it’s blue.’

Northern Ireland international Davis, who had two spells at Rangers, joined the Saints in 2012 and took to Twitter to put the rumours to bed.

“Never going to happen,” he wrote. (Various)

Brown brands Walker a ‘cheat’ over penalty award

CELTIC captain Scott Brown launched a scathing attack on Hearts midfielder Jamie Walker, labelling him a “cheat” for the way he earned a penalty kick in a dramatic Scottish Premiership opener at Tynecastle.

Walker converted the spot-kick himself after going down in the box despite no contact with Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney.

Referee John Beaton later apologised to Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers for the error after seeing TV footage.

A furious Brown said after the match: “Dive, cheat – what else can you say? [Walker] is really good at that. He should be in Rio just now.” (The Scotsman)

More funds for Warburton, promises King

RANGERS chairman Dave King insists manager Mark Warburton will be backed to bring in reinforcements in this transfer window.

The Ibrox club are waiting for confirmation of the severity of Martyn Waghorn’s hamstring injury after the striker limped off near the end of Saturday’s 1-1 home draw with Hamilton.

While King admitted the ongoing row with Sports Direct was having an impact on finances, he said: “I certainly anticipate the possibility of more signings before the end of this window.” (The Scotsman)

Hearts set to complete Nowak deal

POLISH defender Krystian Nowak will today conclude his move to Hearts and could be included in the squad for Wednesday’s Betfred Cup match away to St Johnstone once his registration is finalised.

But head coach Robbie Neilson said he was ‘surprised’ that Celtic had managed to register their new signing Scott Sinclair - despite missing the 5pm deadline on Friday.

Neilson said: “We were told the SFA shuts at 5pm on a Friday – obviously, it doesn’t. What are the rules? Apparently, if someone turns up at the SFA on a Saturday they can put it through, but we didn’t know that. We know now, so the next time we get a player we’ll register him on a Saturday morning.” (Evening News)

Hayes facing month on sidelines

ABERDEEN winger Jonny Hayes is facing up to a month on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in training.

But Dons boss Derek McInnes is hopeful the wideman can make a speedy recovery, mirroring his surprisingly quick return from injury last season.

McInnes said: “We live in hope because Jonny has proved in the past that he can be a quick healer. But if it takes a month we will just have to live with that.” (Evening Express)
