Rumour Mill: Cammy Bell | Kris Boyd | McFadden

Rangers goalkeeper Neil Alexander could be on the way out of Ibrox, after the club asked him to a wage cut of over 50 per cent.

Alexander’s deal runs out at the end of this season, and the prospect of playing for less money is likely to send him out of the Ibrox exit door. The former Scotland international had reportedly been desperate to stay, but contract negotiations have stalled over the length of a new deal and he looks set to leave in the summer. (Express)

Kilmranock manager Kenny Shiels claims Rangers faces competition for the signing of out-of-contract goalkeeper Cammy Bell from Ipswich and others. However, Bell’s representatives have denied there has been an approach from the English club.

James McFadden return not ruled out

Motherwell assistant manager Kenny Black has refused to rule out an offer for James McFadden but revealed the forward’s recent return to the Fir Park fold was similar to his early-season training stint.

McFadden is training with Motherwell after a brief spell at Sunderland ended and a move to Nottingham Forest fell through. A move for their former star is being played down by club management. (Various)

Kris Boyd back in blue at Ibrox?

Ally McCoist has not ruled out a move to sign former Rangers striker Kris Boyd, but expects the striker to be snapped up before September. Boyd has been training with Rangers since leaving MLS outfit Portland Timbers, but McCoist fears the striker is likely to have a deal fixed up before Rangers are able to make a move. (Daily Record)

Jackie McNamara praises Martin O’Neill ahead of Parkhead return

“At Celtic you have to be mentally tough and deal with the pressure of having to win every week so that stands you in good stead for management.

It’s not easy being Ally McCoist

Ally McCoist has spoken of his frustration in trying to bring players in at Ibrox. The Rangers manager is up against it in the transfer market due to the registration embargo limiting Rangers to free agents and pre-contract agreements.

McCoist also revelealed he has found it difficult to recruit players due to the uncertainty surrounding the reconstruction of the SPL and SFL. He said: “I’ve spoken to a number of players who have been put off by the situation.”

But the Rangers boss has also focused on the positives, he added: “Thankfully, because of the support we’ve had this year, it gives me a tool to use with targets. There are a lot of negatives but I can use the training facilities and the fact that we’re getting 47,000 at Ibrox every second week. That’s the big positive but it’s not ideal.” (Daily Record)
