‘Big tax case’ appeal

An appeal over the ‘big tax case’ relating to oldco Rangers will be heard today at the Supreme Court. Liquidators BDO were allowed to challenge the 2015 verdict which ruled in favour of HMRC over the club’s use of employee benefit trusts (EBT). The Ibrox club used the scheme for a number of years to give several high profile players and managers tax-free income. (STV)

Jim Stewart axed

New Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha has immediately set about shaking up the Ibrox backroom staff after goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart was told he had no future at the club. Along with his duties at Ibrox, Stewart is the goalkeeping coach of the Scotland national side, something Caixinha viewed as a problem. (Daily Record)

Celtic fans warned over Dens Park tickets

Celtic fans have been warned against trying to buy tickets for their clash with Dundee this Sunday on the day of the match. Celtic could be crowned champions at the end of the game if they manage to defeat Paul Hartley’s men and Aberdeen lose to Hearts the day before. The Dens Park side will not be permitting any Celtic fans to buy tickets for the home end, and will only sell to Dundee fans with a history of buying tickets. (Daily Record)

Griffiths: Rangers celebrated like they’d won the league

Leigh Griffiths has aimed a dig at Rangers supporters for celebrating Sunday’s draw at Celtic Park “as though they’d won the league”. The Celtic striker insists there will be no repeat when the two sides meet in next month’s Scottish Cup semi-final, and that the league leaders will play to a much higher standard. (Evening Times)

- Griffiths admits public criticism from manager Brendan Rodgers was a little bit hard to take. Rodgers called out the striker for his professionalism off the park, but Griffiths insists there’s no hard feelings between the pair, who talked the issue through. (Evening Times)

Hearts to open contract talks

Hearts will hold crucial talks to determine the futures of their out-of-contract players before the end of the month. Nine first-team members have deals expiring at the end of the season, although not all will be kept on. Callum Paterson, Alex Tziolis, Aaron Hughes, Sam Nicholson, Tasos Avlonitis, Dylan Bikey, Andraz Struna, Rory Currie and Lennard Sowah are all out of contract this summer. (Evening News)

Motherwell to make appointment

Motherwell will have a new manager in place prior to Saturday’s clash with St Johnstone in the Ladbrokes Premiership. John Hughes, Simo Valakari and Stephen Robinson are understood to be the three front-runners to replace Mark McGhee in the Fir Park hotseat. (Evening Times)

McGregor tipped to be a star

Former team-mate Mark Fotheringham has tipped Callum McGregor to become a star for both Celtic and Scotland. Fotheringham played alongside the midfielder for Notts County and insists McGregor outplayed the highly-rated Aston Villa youngster Jack Grealish, who was on loan at the time. (Daily Record)

Dingwall out for the year

Ross County midfielder Tony Dingwall has been dealt a cruel blow after it was revealed the 22-year-old has suffered a cruciate ligament injury. The incident occurred in training and will almost certainly keep Dingwall out of contention for the rest of 2017. (Press and Journal)
