Rangers’ Billy Gilmour attracting interest from Europe

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in Rangers youngster Billy Gilmour.

Barcelona reportedly sent their top young talent spotter to watch the 15-year-old in action for Scotland Under-16.

He was rumoured to have returned to Edinburgh earlier this week to watch him play in the Victory Shield after being impressed by him.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Bayern Munich also reportedly sent scouts to the match. (Daily Record)

Rodgers hints at new contract for Izaguirre

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said it was great to have left back Emilio Izaguirre at Parkhead, hinting that he could be in line for a new contract at the club.

The 30-year-old is one of the longest-serving in the Celtic squad - racking up 250 appearances in over six years - but has spent an increasing amount of time on the bench in the shadow of teenager Kieran Tierney.

Izaguirre has impressed with his stand-in performances for the injured Tierney, raising prospects of his contract being renewed at the end of the season. (Scottish Sun)

- Kieran Tierney took to Twitter on Friday to confirm that an operation to repair his ankle ligament injury was successful.

The defender has been ruled out until Christmas. It was initially feared he had broken his ankle but the damage to his ligaments was enough to warrant surgery. (HITC)

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has said he will look for a replacement for Niko Kranjcar after the Croatian was ruled out for six months with injury.

Scott Brown revealed that his return to international football was underpinned by his respect for manager Gordon Strachan.

The 31-year-old did say that he had not yet decided whether his comback at Wembley was a one-off or the start of a new stint in the national team.
