Scotland v Croatia: Anya or Burke to start

• Gordon Strachan will pick one of new star Ikechi Anya or in-form Chris Burke for his Scotland side tonight.

The Scotland boss said: “It’s a bit difficult to play with two out-and-out wingers. It’s hard to do that now.

“One needs to be able to come in the park and make sure you are not outnumbered. It’s not like we can play three up front.” (Scotsman)

• Scott Brown believes that Scotland can be contenders on the European stage in the future, as another disappointing qualifying campaign comes to an end.

Brown said: “I think we know we’re not Brazil, but on our game, on the day, we could be as good as anybody.

“It’s a great bunch of lads, we’ve got a great backroom staff as well, so it’s encouraging. We’re looking good going forward.” (Scotsman)

• Croatia are still “angry” about their defeat to Scotland in Zagreb and will aim to make amends tonight, according to former Arsenal striker Eduardo.

The forward said: “I was surprised by Scotland, we were the favourites for that game.

“We have not forgotten about it and now we are a little bit angry and we want some revenge.” (Express)

• Scotland go into tonight’s game defending an unbeaten record against Croatia - the sides have met four times, resulting in three draws and Scotland’s Robert Snodgrass-inspired win in June.

Rangers: ‘Stockbridge and Mather must go’, says Murray

PAUL Murray has called for Craig Mather and Brian Stockbridge to step down from the Rangers board immediately.

Murray made the call in the wake of yesterday’s court battle which has postponed the club’s annual meeting until at least November. Murray also revealed that he recently rejected an offer from Mather of a seat on the board because he refused to “ditch” allies such as Jim McColl. (Scotsman)

Dunfermline set for fan ownership

PARS United are finally set to be officially confirmed as Dunfermline Athletic’s new owners today following a fraught 202-day period in administration.

A last-minute legal challenge by former owner Gavin Masterton was seen off last week and the club is now set for fan ownership. (Scotsman)

Gomis wants more trophies at Tannadice

RETURNING midfielder Morgaro Gomis is keen to bring silverware back to Tayside in his second stint at Dundee United.

Gomis was one of the stars of the 2010 Scottish Cup-winning team, and the Senegal international wants another big win in his second spell.

Gomis said: “I’ll never forget it, and hopefully the same can happen again.

“I was still speaking with a lot of the boys before I came back up. Whenever we chatted the Scottish Cup was always brought up. It’s so special that way.” (Record)

‘Johnston out’ says Killie legend McLaren

ANDY McLaren believes that Kilmarnock chairman Alan Johnston must step down for the good of the club.

Attendances are down at Rugby Park, and the former Killie star says change must now occur.

McLaren said: “The minute the punters stop turning up that’s when change happens.

“If no-one turns up for Killie games Michael has to go.” (Record)

• Scotland full-back Phil Bardsley has been brought in from the cold at Sunderland by new boss Gus Poyet.

Bardsley was persona non grata at the club during Paolo di Canio’s reign after being photographed lying on a pile of £50 notes in a casino the day after a game. (Record)

• St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright believes that Stevie May will commit to another year at McDiarmid Park. The striker has scored four goals so far this season. (Herald)

• Hibs’ Danny Handling will continue his injury recovery with a performance for the under-20s side against Inverness Caley tonight. Handling is keen to be fit for the clash with Celtic on Saturday. (Express)

• Barry Robson has returned to training at Aberdeen. The midfielder has been out of action since suffering a knee injury in the opening game of the season against Kilmarnock. (Sun)
