Celtic hunt Liverpool pair
Liverpool have reportedly knocked back a dual loan offer from Celtic for Andre Wisdom and Joe Gomez.
The Merseyside club will be willing to let full back Wisdom go if Celtic can match their asking price of £3 million.
Brendan Rogers worked with the pair when he was Liverpool manager. A stint that ended in October last year. (The Sun)
Adrian Mariappa for Ibrox talks
Crystal Palace centre back Adrian Mariappa has travelled to Ibrox for signing talks with Rangers.
The 29-year-old has also played for Watford and Reading in his career and would represent the sixth signing for Mark Warburton this summer.
Rangers hope to get the deal done before they travel to the United States for their pre-season training camp. (Various)
Clint Hill ‘to control’ Joey Barton
A former QPR team-mate of Rangers’ last two signings has joked that Clint Hill has been hired to look after Joey Barton during his stay in Glasgow.
Danny Gabbidon believes both players will bring character to the Ibrox dressing room, while also pondering whether Hill was signed “to control Joey” in Scotland. (Daily Record)
No.1 spot Hamilton’s to lose at Hearts

Qatari group bid for St Mirren
A Qatari consortium has made an 11th hour bid to take over St Mirren just as it looked certain a fan ownership scheme was going to take charge of the Paisley club.
The St Mirren Independent Supporters Association agreed a deal with the current board to takeover the club on the basis that they would reach 1000 members paying £12 a month to bankroll the agreement, a figure that was reached earlier this week.
Now they could be gazumped by an unknown Qatari group who have offered £300,000 more to the selling consortium. (The Herald)
Christie wants Barca moment
Midfielder Ryan Christie wants to help fire Celtic back to the level of competing (and beating) the very best in the Champions League group stage.
“I think back to watching Celtic play in the Champions League and now it’s my job, and the rest of the players’ jobs, to get us back to where we think we belong, which is the Champions League,” said the former Inverness Caledonian Thistle player. (Scotland on Sunday)
Ronny Deila became ‘liability’ at Celtic
Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila admits he became a ‘liability’ in his last few months at Celtic Park as the pressures of the job got to the Norwegian.
Normally an outgoing person, Deila became increasingly reserved as the pressure on him built, which caused him to suffer from headaches and night sweats.
Deila says he’ll take some time out to relax and plans on visiting some of the top clubs in the world to learn their methods before getting back into football. (The Sun)
Neil Lennon will aid Hibs’ Europa League bid
The Scottish Cup win may take some bettering but scoring in Europe or pulling off the kind of shock he has witnessed others manage in the past would certainly come close to equalling that feeling, according to Hibernian striker James Keatings.
And, the 24-year-old, who weighed in with a 12-goal return despite seeing his playing opportunities limited last term, feels that Neil Lennon is the ideal gaffer to help them in their Europa League qualifying quest. (Scotland on Sunday)
Duo stopped from training at Rangers
Accrington Stanley are refusing to allow Josh Windass and Matt Crooks to train with Rangers as the row over compensation for the pair rumbles on.
The Ibrox side tied up both midfielders on pre-contracts in January. However, as the players are both under the age of 23 and were offered contracts to remain at Accrington, Rangers are required to pay compensation. (The Scotsman)
