Rangers hope to land Caixinha in 48 hours

Rangers hope to have Portuguese Pedro Caixinha installed as their new manager by Wednesday. Ibrox chiefs have been negotiating with the 46-year-old’s current club Al-Garafa over the weekend and although no agreement has been made yet, Rangers still expect to get their main. The Qatari outfit have offered Caixinha improved terms, but it is understood he is keen on managing in Europe, making Rangers an attractive proposition for him. (The Sun)

Waghorn wants Murty to stay

Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn hopes that Graeme Murty remains at Ibrox in some capacity after a managerial appointment is made. Speaking after the 6-0 thrashing of Hamilton in the Scottish Cup, Waghorn said: “I’ve known Graeme for a long time and it would be nice if he gets the chance and hopefully he stays in and around the squad – that would be great for all the boys.” (The Herald)

McInnes glad to avoid Celtic

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has admitted he has got the tie he wanted in the Scottish Cup semi-finals after the Dons were paired with Hibs and Celtic drew Rangers. McInnes said: “If we’re all being honest, the three other teams will have wanted to avoid Celtic. That’s nothing against Hibs – I’m sure Neil Lennon will be just as pleased as we are.” (various)

Motherwell match-winner Zak Jules revealed his winning goal against Kilmarnock was a thank-you to departed manager Mark McGhee for bringing him to Scotland. The defender’s goal gave the Steelmen a 2-1 win just days after McGhee was axed from his post as manager and on-loan defender Jules said: “That result was for Mark, definitely.
