Rout puts Nairn top to test bottle of Buckie

NAIRN County knocked Buckie Thistle off top spot in the Highland League table after a 6-0 thrashing of Brora Rangers. Buckie’s slump at Inverurie – just a couple of days after splashing £16,000 on Deveronvale’s Mark Chisholm – paved the way for the Wee County’s lofty perch.

Conor Gethins and Steven MacKay both netted twice, with Dale Gillespie and Robbie Duncanson also scoring.

Inverurie Locos hosted champions Buckie Thistle and ran out 2-0 winners against the morning’s leaders thanks to a Nicky Gordon penalty and Clark Bain’s 70th-minute goal.

Cove Rangers moved joint second after a 2-0 win at Strathspey.
