Roses looking to bloom in League Cup semi-final

Tonight sees the first of the Dechmont Forklift League Cup semi-finals being played at Prestonfield between Linlithgow Rose and Bonnyrigg Rose with a 7.15 pm kick-off.

Both sides have had to battle their way through their sections with many supporters feeling that Linlithgow had it much easier in a section made up mainly of South Division sides.

Linlithgow manager Mark Bradley believes it will be 
another difficult game following on from Saturday’s 1-0 win at Broxburn. “Bonnyrigg were the team to beat last season and now they come here as League title holders, so they will be looking to get a result,” he said. “They will be looking to bounce back from their defeat at the weekend but we’ll be ready for them. We are the Cup holders and want to retain it and win the first silverware of the 
season.

“Mark Tyrrell is still out but everyone else is fit and raring to go.”

Bonnyrigg boss Max Christie was disappointed with Saturday’s 3-1 defeat by Camelon. “We let ourselves and the supporters down against Camelon both individually and collectively,” he admitted. “That’s the worst I’ve seen from the players for a while. We all take the blame for that one. Knowing the team as I do we’ll all be looking to go to Linlithgow and get a result.”

At stake is a place in the final against either Newtongrange Star or Sauchie Juniors on a date yet to be confirmed.
