Riordan joins Bristol Rovers

FORMER Hibernian and Celtic forward Derek Riordan has signed a three-month contract with English League Two outfit Bristol Rovers.

Riordan, 29, has been without a club since his short stint at St Johnstone finished at the end of last season. He has been training with Blackpool, MK Dons and most recently Ross County. Rovers’ Scottish manager Mark McGhee has been suffering a striker crisis and has signed up the three-times capped player, who had a brief time in China with Shaanxi Chan-Ba after his second spell at Hibs ended. Riordan is expected to go straight into the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Exeter City.

McGhee has also brought
in 20-year-old Bolton Wanderers striker Tom Eaves on a 93-day emergency loan.
