Reserve League future on the table

THE controversial scrapping of the SPL reserve league is set to be keenly debated this afternoon when all 12 Premier League managers meet at Hampden.

A wide range of topics will be discussed with the SPL secretary, Iain Blair.

Hibs manager John Hughes has made it clear ahead of the meeting that he wants the decision to disband the second-string set-up reversed.

"Any walk of life should have a four or five-year apprenticeship. I didn't turn pro until I was 23. If we don't have a reserve league we'll lose too many good players," said Hughes.
