Rea makes Uni pay penalty

The home side enjoyed the bulk of possession early in the game but Gretna came more into it as the first half progressed. Uni almost opened the scoring but for Grant making a double save from Jack Beacher and Mark Gray.

Phil Storey was proving difficult to handle. Uni defender Danny Main failed to stop his run into the area from a Slattery pass and the Gretna marksman made space to drive his shot past the diving Tait into the bottom corner of the net.

In the 50th minute Edinburgh Uni equalised when a freekick was punched by Grant straight to Gray who fired into the roof of the unguarded goal.

Dan Rayson could have restored the visitors’ lead but miscued his shot from eight yards out, firing over the bar. Minutes later Rayson weaved his way into the area where he was brought down by Main, giving away a penalty which Dean Rea duly converted.
