The appointment of Ross Wilson as the club’s director of football has added an extra layer of insight into the club’s recruitment of players.

In the last few seasons, Steven Gerrard has transformed the team with shrewd signings as few players remain from previous eras.

This coming summer will likely be an interesting one at Ibrox.

The club could see some of their assets be sold if big bids arrive which would mean tweaking and possibly restocking in certain areas as they look to reach the Champions League group stages.

Hutton, who was sold by Rangers to Tottenham Hotspur for big money, has praised the club and the scouting team for its “meticulous” work.

“You could go through the Rangers team and list off the gems,” he told Football Insider. “You would say the scouting team is working.

“We all believe in it. They’ve done enough over the previous years for us to trust in them. If they’ve been scouting a player, they haven’t just done it like: ‘We’ll just go and watch that player for a couple of days.’

“They’ve been meticulous in everything that they do; watching games, watching footage, what kind of character he is.

“I think they like to go into depth with all the players and all the signings. Therefore, I would 100 per cent put my trust in them.

“Obviously, it’s not always 100 per cent things work out the way you want to, but I think they’ve got more right than not. In my opinion, I would trust them.”
