Rangers took part in two friendlies on Wednesday with a B team taking on Dundee United at Murray Park in the afternoon before the first team were in action against Motherwell in the evening at Ibrox. The games produced contrasting results with the reserves being soundly beaten, while Steven Gerrard’s men thumped the Steelmen.
The line-ups and involvement of certain players in each fixture were of particular interest to many and suggested plenty about the future of some, whether they are destined to leave or are set to stay and play a role in the forthcoming season.

3. Jordan Jones
The Northern Ireland international’s involvement with the ‘B’ team while Barker was with the first-team suggests there is a pecking order in the wide positions behind Ryan Kent and Ianis Hagi. Ever since the red card against Celtic Jones has been up against it. A loan move wouldn’t surprise. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
4. Kai Kennedy
It is clear Rangers know they have a very talented player at the club. But they also want to make it clear they won’t be pushed around. It appeared recently that Kennedy may be moving on after little progress regarding contract negotiations. Started for the B team and things could change. Photo: Craig Foy- SNS Group
