The Europa League Group C showdown is a repeat of the 2021 fixture in the same competition which saw Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara targeted with boos by thousands of schoolchildren after he was racially abused by Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela the previous season.

Both sides will hope for no repeat of such scenes as Rangers’ new Belgian head coach Clement looks to steer his side back on track in the competition after they were beaten 2-1 in Cyprus by Aris Limassol earlier this month under caretaker manager Steven Davis.

That defeat followed a 1-0 win over Real Betis in the opening match last month under Michael Beale to leave Rangers on three points, tied with the other sides in the group, with all three losing one and winning one of their opening two fixtures.

Sparta Prague v Rangers team news

Rangers have a potential problem at left-back with Borna Barisic and Dujon Sterling both doubtful after missing training this week while Ridvan Yilmaz is not registered in the club’s Europa League squad. Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo also miss out although Todd Cantwell and Danilo could return to the starting line-up after making substitute appearances in the weekend win over Hibs following injury lay-offs.

Sparta Prague are sweating over the fitness of two key players. Top scorer Lukas Haraslin, who has seven goals in nine league games, and eight in 15 across all competitions, and captain Ladisla Krejci both picked up injuries while on international duty with the Czech Republic and missed the weekend win over SK Dynamo.
