Viaplay Cup final: When is the League Cup showdown between Celtic and Rangers after semi-final success

Celtic will play Rangers in the Viaplay Cup final after the latter came through extra-time to defeat Aberdeen 2-1 thanks to Kemar Roofe's strike.

Twenty-four hours earlier, Ange Postecoglou's men overcame Killie with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Daizen Maeda and Giorgos Giakoumakis, while there was an element of controversy as the Ayrshire side felt they were due a penalty late in the game via a foul from the Greek striker. The current Scottish league leaders have won six of the last eight tournaments.

Rangers were made to work for their place in the showcase final with Aberdeen going ahead through Bojan Miovski. Ryan Jack and Roofe grabbed goals in the second half and extra-time respectively as the Ibrox side prepare for just their second League Cup final in 14 years.

The final is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 26 at Hampden Park in a tournament which has been rebranded from the Premier Sports Cup to the Viaplay Cup.
