'Unbelievable' - Ally McCoist claims 'absolutely vital' Rangers star is worth £30m
Rangers legend Ally McCoist has claimed that current Ibrox star Ryan Kent could be worth up to £30 million if his former club come to sell the winger.
The 24-year-old is enjoying a stellar campaign this season, and has hit 12 goals and 14 assists across all competitions in the Gers’ title-winning run.
Kent has established himself as a key fixture of Steven Gerrard’s starting XI in Glasgow, but his impressive form has seemingly caught the eye in England, with Leeds United once again at the centre of speculation over a potential summer exit.
Pleasingly for Rangers fans, the player himself has looked to play down those links, and McCoist believes that it would take a massive bid to prise him away from Ibrox anytime soon. Speaking on BT Sport, the popular pundit said: "It might happen if they get an unbelievable offer. That is the economics of football, we understand that totally.
"What's he worth? £25-30 million right now. £25-30 million for Ryan Kent
"You need Ryan Kent. These are the players you need to unlock defences, to get the ball, have the stepover: over left he's away right and vice-versa.
"He goes and commits somebody, he gets by somebody and someone has to come to him so the defence opens up.
"He is absolutely vital to Rangers."
Despite his superb form and McCoist’s sizeable valuation of the player, Kent missed out on a nod from the Scottish Football Writers’ Player of the Year award.
Instead, the four-man shortlist is made up of Ibrox quartet Allan McGregor, Steven Davis, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson.
