'Titles are won at Kilmarnock': Rangers fans react to moving nine points clear in the SPFL Premiership

A 15th clean sheet of the season, a victory and a healthy advantage in the SPFL Premiership table had Rangers fans pleased on social media after the match against Kilmarnock.

A first-half penalty from James Tavernier was enough for Steven Gerrard’s team who now face Benfica in Portugal on Thursday.

Danny CAstro: “Looking great from the summit here. That's a place we'd have dropped points recently. Team is a different beast this year. They've found their mojo.”

@jabroniGP: “Results like these could be the difference maker come end of season as still lots of games to be played. Always a hard fixture well done troops!”

Graeme Paton: “Massive result Rangers! We always struggle at Rugby Park so to win and keep a clean sheet shows the team’s very well organised. Killie made the 2nd half harder for us but we could n should have got a killer second goal. Very happy to get through that, mon the Gers”

Stacey Morrow: “That was nerve racking at least we got the three points thank god – we didn’t last season. We are improving so well done Rangers.”

Dennis Clark: “Let’s not get to excited, it’s a long haul. Would have liked to have made it a bit more comfortable but pleased with the three points.”

The defensive record was another cause for praise.

@Fayezakram10: “Going for 55 clean sheets.”

@DonfatherThe: “Absolutely incredible by any standard.”

Colin Faulds: “Goldson is playing out his skin this year. Won absolutely everything today.”

@fiRM37600646: “Titles are won at Kilmarnock.”

While @Predator1986 joked: “Standard dropped today. We allowed four shots on target!”

Some though were a bit more cautious and there was disagreement over the performance of one new signing.

@ggh1992: “Brilliant to pick up the three points but as much as a shouldn't complain I can't help but feel we need to come out firing at teams more, kill games off and build the goal difference but that’s a game last season we would've bottled so over the moon, nine points clear.”

@JorddFifaa: “Three points is +3 that’s all that matters, last season we’d drop points. Itten needs more training though.”

@robbiejh96: “Itten deserves more starts.”

David Mckillen: “Need to buck up ideas in the final third. Fantastic result but should never have been that close. However we do look solid.”
