The Liverpool legend has, over the past three seasons, built a team which has been good enough to not only close the gap to rivals Celtic but open up a nine-point lead so far this season, albeit having played two games more.

Rangers have benefitted from some shrewd recruitment and smart coaching.

Beale, who arrived at Ibrox with Gerrard, has seen that up close, working as a key cog in the management team with a strong influence on certain aspects of the team’s play.

"He has a really clean eye for recruitment and the type of young player he wants to work with so he spends a lot of time on a one-to-one basis talking to those players and understanding them,” Beale told the Coaches Voice.

"I think that's really important.”

Rangers’ progress has also been helped through investment in infrastructure and practices, making the club more a professional and efficient operation.

That has been taken on to another level with the appointment of Ross Wilson as the club’s sporting director creating an even closer working enviornment.

"There's a real push within the club that people won't see from outside to put some really strong structures in place,” Beale said.

"Around the building, around the stadium, the links with the academy.

"Ross Wilson coming in as sporting director has really helped that as well to pull all that together.”
