'That's how to do it Rangers', 'Thank you!', 'Gave me goosebumps',: Fans react as Rangers move to verge of title 55

Rangers fans say they are ‘high as a kite’ after seeing the team move another step closer to a 55th league title in a 3-0 win over St Mirren.

The SPFL Premiership leaders were roared into Ibrox by masses of supporters in the street ahead of the match and after three points moved the team to within touching distance of the trophy the fans are delighted – and appreciative.

@DC90K: “In a year of mainly misery, you've been the only thing that brought me joy. Thank you @RangersFC #55.”

David Conway: “Every one of the players and staff have excelled themselves this season! What a team.. What a club!”

@Mark_S_Crawford: “We went to the brink and stared into the abyss. Celtic had a decade long head start and all the advantages. In just three years Gerrard took the existing players and made them better, building a team that’s playing some of the best football I can remember from us. Legend for me.”

@JBxIxx: “I wonder what Rangers fans would prefer. Win the league tomorrow without kicking the ball or try and win it at Celtic Park next weekend.”

Luca Gabbi: “The players running towards the gates to celebrate with our people gave me goosebumps, IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING.”

@ArgyllWarrior: “I wanna say something profound, something meaningful or something inspiring, but all I can think of after nearly a decade of waiting is GET ****ING RIGHT IN THERE.”

Others were keen to focus on the game and performance over St Mirren who were chasing a place in the top six themselves. Rangers can win the league if Celtic fail to win against Dunee United at Tannadice on Sunday.

Steven Gerrard’s side then face a trip to Prague to meet Slavia in the last 16 of the UEFA Europa League – but head into the game on the back of jubilant scenes at Ibrox and a comfortable victory.

@JP_Sco: “Shocking display Rangers absolutely shocking lol wanted five! Top class absolutely phenomenal 55 is nearly here it’s been a long time coming and I am going to enjoy every minute of it! Thank you thank you thank you!"

Yanzta Goldie: “Kent so composed with a solid strike, Morelos from an almost impossible angle, and Hagi stops, takes a touch, cues it up, and puts it where he meant it to go, three superb finishes. Unlucky to Arfield and Defoe, great strikes though, but what a great team effort all in, skill, workrate, style, each player showed great form. Played like a team who are champions, nearly there, a point to go. Somebody get me off the ceiling. High as a kite.”

@CF3Loyal: “That’s how to do it Rangers, professional and comprehensive. The first game that it’s really hit me that we are not there to celebrate with the players. Incredible scenes at Ibrox, I’m just far too sensible to head over.”

@NWatton: “Get in lads cruising it nearly there, on to Europe now keep it going!!!

@benn_smith72: “The team that started today is 100% our strongest currently available imo. Although won’t be surprised to see Arfield start on Thursday.”
