The Gers take on Motherwell this weekend at Ibrox looking to maintain their impressive league form and bounce back from the 3-2 loss to the Buddies in the quarter-finals of the League Cup.

Gerrard said: “We are disappointed with the result and understand the fans’ reaction and shock. It is done now and we have to look forward to the future starting tomorrow.

"We analyse the players all the time regardless of the result.

“We are looking to see who will stand up and be counted. Now, it is all about the preparation for Motherwell. It is a good group and I'm sure they will react in a positive way.

"Over the course of the 28 games we have been fantastic defensively, an we need to return to this level starting on Saturday.”

Midfielder Scott Arfield added: “It was a disappointment for everyone at the football club. When you walk through these doors and wear the badge you know the spotlight is on you.

“I don't think one match will change the mentality in this group, we know what we need to do tomorrow and we are all looking forward to it.

"After the Livingston and Hibernian games [which both ended in draws] we showed a strong reaction. I think we will get the correct reaction tomorrow.

“We need to go on a run again and show what we are all about.”
