Football looks set to be given a lockdown reprieve after the latest Government restrictions were announced.

Talks are ongoing to establish how far through the football pyramid the new measures will go, but early indications were positive fans would still see their teams, in the top flight at least.

Transfer targets will also be unaffected by the travel restrictions, which is good news for clubs hoping to do business in the January window.

The buying and selling period is open and already there has been a little movement in the Scottish Premiership, with another four weeks of activity anticipated.

As well as the standard trading fayre and gossip we’ve come to expect in the first month of the year, Celtic are in the headlines for their trip to Dubai – and the Scottish Government’s reaction to it, Hibs’ have a goalkeeper crisis and Motherwell continue to seek a replacement manager following Stephen Robinson’s resignation last week.
