Premier League new-boys eyeing Celtic defender

West Brom have held talks over a deal for Celtic centre-back Kristoffer Ajer this summer, according to The Athletic.

The report steates that the Baggies have shown “some interest” in the 22-year-old defender.

Ajer has made 132 appearances in all competitions for Celtic, winning  two domestic trebles.

Ajer would likely be seen West Brom as an alternative to Shane Duffy, who appears to be heading to Celtic.

Neil Lennon drops transfer update

Celtic have are said to be in talks with Motherwell over David Turnbull.

Despite talks, there has been no breakthrough regarding the transfer.

“No updates. I spoke to Peter yesterday and we are no further forward than we were after Dundee United really. He is a good player.”

Lennon also said that he hopes that there are no exits as he is happy with his squad.

“I have to concentrate on the job at hand. We have our eye on a couple of potential signings, but we are nowhere near fulfilling any of those at the minute. I can’t really add anything more to that.

“I would hope that we are not going to lose any more players. I am happy with the squad, but I would like to make a couple of more additions, as I’ve said over the past few weeks.

“A lot of these things can be protracted, and we may look at later on in the window when we might be able to get better value for money for players as well.”

Trabzonspor striker Caleb Ekuban has been linked with a move to Celtic. However,  Lennon moved to pour cold water on the rumour.

“Nothing, absolutely nothing. I’m getting all this speculation and chat and rumours, and this is the age we live in.

“But I can tell you hand on heart that it’s the first time I’ve heard of this player. I’m not aware of any bids or contact with the player or the club or representatives.”

Alfredo Morelos reports rubbished

A reports Alfredo Morelos had “formally requested” to leave Rangers following Lile’s £18m bid have been rubbished.

Several Scottish outlets have dubbed reports in Columbia as “wide of the mark”.

Steven Naismith warns Aaron Hickey amidst Bayern talk

The £1.5m-rated 18-year-old left-back is wanted by Bayern Munich and Italian Serie A side Bologna.

The Hearts man has also been linked with Celtic, where he was a youth player.

"What will happen with his future will happen," Club captain Steven Naismith told BBC Scotland.

"There's no point overthinking anything at the moment; just get your head down and work hard and if he moves on he moves on.

"If he doesn't, he'll have another season of first-team football which will do him no harm."

"I think when I was younger that [first-team football] was probably one of the main things, but I think football's changed a bit," he said.

"I've said to him [Hickey] a few times that if something does happen and he has a decision to make, the one he wants to take will feel right, no matter if that is the best team, the biggest team, or whatever."

Aaron Hickey ‘chooses’ Italian club

Hearts youngster Aaron Hickey is keen to join Bologna, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

Italy’s Corriere dello Sport claim that he had told Bologna he was keen to move to Serie A.

The potential is said to be around £1.3m-£1.5m, while reports in Italy expect it to be €2m (£1.8m).

Ex-Hibs hero wanted by Italian club

Hibernian hero Liam Henderson is being eyed by Italian side Empoli after impressing on loan for the Tuscan side, according to reports.

Sporting director Pietro Accardi admitted the club could still make a move for the midfielder.

Henderson wrote himself into Hibs folklore with his assist for David Gray's winner in the Scottish Cup final back in 2016.

An important one for Old Firm fans

Ex-Rangers and Sunderland striker tips Steven Gerrard to target Hibs man - if Ryan Kent leaves Ibrox this summer

“I think Kent, he could be replaced by a (Martin Boyle, of Hibernian),” Kevin Kyle said to Open Goal.

“What do you want in a winger? You want somebody to get at the full-backs. Martin Boyle does that week in, week out, so why not?

"I think he would be a very cheap replacement and I think we would get just as much quality. People might disagree with that.

“I’m not saying he’s at the same level (as Kent). What I’m saying is, we’re in the Scottish game.

“If Martin Boyle is ripping it up for Hibs against most teams, week in, week out, in the Premier League playing with Rangers, Martin Boyle should be able to do the same.

"Maybe with a bit more quality because he’s surrounded by a bit more quality. In terms of the league he’s in, Martin Boyle would be able to a job for any of the teams, I would think.”
