McGregor backs £3.5m signing to succeed

Callum McGregor has backed January signing Patryk Klimala to be a success after the player returned to Celtic in great shape.

Celtic should sign Roberts - McAvennie

If Celtic fail in bringing Mohamed Elyounoussi back to Parkhead, they should target Patrick Roberts.

That’s the view of former player Frank McAvennie.

He told Football Insider: “I do not know what is happening with Elyounoussi and if they re-sign him I do not see the need for Roberts. The fans would love to see him back though because he was a wonderful player.

“Him and Callum McGregor were good pals. He got on well with the boys. I wouldn’t rule out bringing him back. He did very well at Celtic and he loved it. If he has not got a career elsewhere it would be nice if he returned but I think any move would be reliant on Elyounoussi though.”

Roberts is contracted to Manchester City until 2022.

Rangers 'interest' in international

Rangers have reportedly made moves to sign midfielder Bongani Zungu.

The 24-cap South African international has experience of the top flight in France, Portugal and his homeland.

Zungu is currently plying his trade with Amiens who are fighting their relegation to Ligue 2 in France.

The French side are understood to value the player at between €2m and €3m.
