Scottish Football LIVE: Rangers urged to give star contract 'for life', new club join race for Celtic ace, Aberdeen star close to new deal

We’re amidst a hectic schedule in Scottish football, especially in the Premiership with games coming thick and fast.

A full fixturecard takes place this weekend in the SPFL, followed by the Betfred Cup quarter-finals in the midweek, more league games and the Scottish Cup final and then a midweek top-flight card, all before Christmas.

For fans, there is plenty to get our teeth into, but at the same time the frustration that for the vast majority, going to games is still not on the horizon.

New club in race for Celtic ace

A fourth club has reportedly joined the race for unsettled Celtic star Hatem Abd Elhamed.

The Israeli defender has revealed he has struggled with his family back in his homeland.

Hapoel Beer Sheva are the latest side to show an interest, report the Scottish Sun, joining Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Haifa and Beitar Jerusalem.

Hutton: Give Rangers star deal until he retires

Rangers should hand Allan McGregor a deal until he retires. That’s the view of best friend and former Ibrox colleague Alan Hutton.

The goalkeeper’s deal expires at the end of the season but he has shown little sign of regression.

Hutton told Football Insider: "I would literally give him a contract until he wanted to retire, that’s how highly I rate him.

“I would want to tie him down and for me, I would just keep it rolling, he is that good, that good at the moment so it wouldn’t surprise me if they wanted to sign him for at least another year.”

Considine set for new Dons deal

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is hoping Andy Considine signs a new deal in the new year.

Discussions over a contract extensions have taken place and are progressing.

McInnes told the Daily Record:  “It is pretty much as it was the contract and it is just a case of Andy discussing it with his family and working out what he wants to do."
