After promising plenty in the first few days it has somewhat quietened. It may be because games have been coming thick and fast for some teams or because there has been so much uncertainty off the pitch, headlines dominated by Celtic’s excursion to Dubai, the Scottish Government’s take on the situation and, of course, football in the country being postponed below the Championship after more strict lockdown rules due to the coronavirus.

The lingering presence of the virus and the debilitating threat it poses to the game if the situation worsens has perhaps made clubs alter their transfer window plans. A number of Premiership clubs have recalled players who were on loan in the bottom two tiers, such as Dundee United’s Chris Mochrie at Montrose.

It would be completely understandable for teams to shelf any new signings, at least until the summer, but some clubs have already done some key business. St Mirren, for example, who have brought in two forwards and Hibs, who added three.

Plans can, of course, change. The window closes at midnight on Monday, February 1. The final week, and especially the last few days, are often the most hectic in the January window as team panic or re-asses their squad and make players available.

We will have all the latest from around the SPFL throughout the day as and when it happens, including any transfer talk.
