Scott Arfield salutes adorable young Rangers fan who mimicked Europa League goal celebration

Scott Arfield returned a heart-warming salute from one of his youngest fans following the midfielder’s winner against Standard Liege last night.

Mum Gillian Muir sent a picture of daughter Calla to Rangers and Arfield’s social media accounts following the second half strike which proved decisive in the Europa League match for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Posing in full Rangers kit, Calla mimicked the Canadian international’s goal celebration where he salutes the stands at Ibrox and Arfield was delighted, sending a post-match video back to the midwife to pass on to the young fan.

He said: “Hi Calla, Scott Arfield here, thank you for your salute, here’s one back to you darling – all the best.”

Arfield struck in the 63rd minute of the match for the winning goal that sealed three group-stage points and ensured Rangers’ progression into the UEL knock-out stages.

The former Falkirk and Huddersfield man also scored the winner against Galatasaray which ensured Rangers qualified for the competition’s group stage.
