Steven Gerrard names Rangers team to face Kilmarnock with Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe both suspended in Scottish Premiership

Steven Gerrard has named his starting line-up to face Kilmarnock at Ibrox this afternoon.

The Rangers boss was left with little option up front with both Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe suspended and Jermain Defoe close to match fitness – but has elected to stick with Cedric Itten who started in last week’s draw at Hamilton.

The Swiss striker is a popular figure among the Rangers support despite being predominantly utilised as a substitute since his move from St Gallen last August.

Keeping one eye on Europe and Thursday’s clash in Belgium with Royal Antwerp the manager has also made a call on his midfield an defence, though his usual core of players are present through the side who will face new Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright in his second game in charge – and ex-Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty who joined the Ayrshire side this week.
