It was a night that burst into life with an energetic opening to each half but only in the second did Rangers make their attacks pay with two terrific team moves to create goals for Scott Arfield and James Tavernier.
The captain laid on the first, aided by a cushioned pass by Ianis Hagi into the Canada international’s path, and then started and finished the move for the second – so it’s little wonder he figures highly in the ratings on a night where Rangers collectively pulled through past some big-name players and into the group stage of the Europa League for the third time in as many years.
Player ratings scale - 10: One of best performances you've seen. 9: Outstanding. 8: Very good. 7: Good. 6: Average. 5: Poor, 4: Very poor. 3: Terrible day at office. 2: Abysmal. 1: One of worst performances you've seen.
More to contend with when the physical Diagne came on than he had had with Ryan Babel but ensured continuity at the back which paid off in another assured performance right across the defence. Photo: Ian MacNicol
Calming influence in the middle of the park kept things moving in the second half. Busy with Belhanda to occupy him for most of the night. Photo: Ian MacNicol
Had to drop in to help the defence at times, particularly in the first half with Falcao threatening, and otherwise occupied by the bright Belhanda with Davis. Did his bit and kept things ticking well. Photo: IAN MACNICOL
Quiet and well marshalled on his return to the line-up, but still eager and willing to support and two lovely touches in build-up to both goals ensured he still had an influence. Photo: Alan Harvey - SNS Group
