Hide AdBabel was taking part in an Instagram Q&A when he was asked: “If you could play in Scotland what team would it be for and why?”
He said: “I think I would play for Rangers just for the fact that Steven Gerrard is the coach.”
The 33-year-old is currently in his third spell at Dutch Ajax, on loan from Galatasaray.
He is contracted to the Turkish giants until 2022.
Babel shot to early prominence at Ajax, winning the Eredivisie, netting 24 goals in 111 appearances. It prompted Liverpool to pay in the region of £11.5million for his signature. He linked up with Gerrard for four seasons.
Since his time at Anfield he has embarked on a somewhat itinerant and interesting journey, playing in the Bundesliga, Turkey, La Liga and the UAE, while also having two spells back at Ajax and a stint with Fulham.
