Rumours of Rangers’ interest in the England international have not died down since the transfer window closed on Monday and former Liverpool and England midfielder Barnes believes a move to Glasgow would suit the midfielder.

Barnes said: “I believe Jack Wilshere would be a great signing for Rangers; it really could be the perfect club for him.

“With a number of injuries throughout his career, at Rangers he’d have an understanding manager in Steven, someone he knows personally, who’d allow him to stay fit and most importantly, play.

“Jack would bring a lot to the table; he’s creative in his play and he’s hungry. He really wants to get back out there and have a lot to give. He’s definitely one to watch.

“Perhaps someone like Wilshere could help Rangers prevent Celtic from getting their 10-in-a-row.

“Time will tell,” added Barnes, speaking to Bonuscodebets.co.uk.
