Rangers team v Dundee United confirmed - how Steven Gerrard covers James Tavernier's first-team injury

Steven Gerrard has named his starting team to face Dundee United – without injured skipper James Tavernier.

The Rangers boss saw his captain limp out of last week’s Europa league victory in Antwerp and the talismanic right-back faces a spell on the sidelines while medical staff assess the damage.

Instead Leon Balogun, his midweek replacement, remains in the first-team as Dundee United visit Ibrox in another key game for Rangers.

The league title is in sight and they can extend their lead over Celtic this afternoon with Neil Lennon’s second-placed side involved in an evening kick-off in Dingwall against Ross County.
