Rangers star reveals what team 'want to fix' after Viaplay Cup success, Celtic final and Kemar Roofe blow

Rangers star Ben Davies believes the team need to rectify going behind in games – but praised their ability to react positively.

The Ibrox side fell behind against Aberdeen in the Viaplay Cup semi-final but bounced back with goals from Ryan Kent and Kemar Roofe in the second half and extra-time respectively. Manager Michael Beale spoke in the aftermath of the team's anxiety.

"I think he means when we go a goal down,” Davies said. “We keep seeming to bounce back so I think we just need to relax and know we can create chances. We said at half time that if we give the performance again in the second half we should be able to win and in the end that’s what happened.

"We have gone a goal down quite a lot this season,” Davies said. “It is obviously something we are not happy with and want to fix. But we quite often react quite well to it and keep doing what we are trying to do, keep the ball, make chances and I think we scored two good goals with good moves and yes, two was enough in the end. I would have liked it to be more but we came to get through and we are through."

Davies, who described the Hampden Park pitch as a “little bit boggy”, now has his sights set on a cup success when the team face Celtic in the final at the end of February.

"Cup finals and things like that are not something I’ve experienced loads of in my career, so it’s good to be involved in one," he said. “I’m looking forward to it. We won the Scottish Cup last year, so we want to win this one this year. We want to win them all.”

One blow for Rangers was the injury to Roofe who seemed to hurt his arm or collar bone.

"In training he has looked good," Davies said. “He is hard to train against and hard to play against. I played against him in England and he is sharp, he knows what he is doing, he knows how to score. So obviously it would be a blow to us if he is out for a period.”
