Connor Goldson's blunder gifted Accies their winning goal on Wednesday

Connor Goldson apologised to his Rangers team-mates after his mistake cost the Ibrox side during their Ladbrokes Premiership meeting with Hamilton, manager Steven Gerrard has revealed.

The centre-back was caught on the ball on the edge of his own penalty area after receiving a pass from James Tavernier.

David Moyo was able to take full advantage, sliding the ball low past Allan McGregor for what would prove to be the only goal of the game.

It was a costly defeat for Gerrard's men as they failed to take advantage of Celtic drawing with Livingston to close the gap in the title race.

In the dressing room after the match, Goldson addressed the rest of the squad and said sorry for his error, something which pleased his manager.

Gerrard said: "Connor apologised to his teammates after the match and that shows me someone who is honest enough to admit their mistakes.

"He has stood up to the challenge since coming here and he held his hands up after making a mistake."
