It couldn’t have started much worse for Rangers who looked off the pace for the majority of the first half. Romanian dangerman Nicolae Stanciu curled in the opener after just six minutes after drifting to the edge of the visitors' box unmarked and unchallenged.
Rangers had spent the weekend celebrating the club’s 55th title win and fans fears of a hangover from the exertions seemed real until the team finally got going towards the end of the first half and Filip Helander tapped in the equaliser six minutes from the break after Ianis Hagi’s cut-back.
Their resurgence continued in the second half with a performance much more like those which have seen Steven Gerrard’s side go unbeaten in Europe this season and they take a 1-1 draw back to Glasgow – and owe a debt of gratitude to Allan McGregor for a wonderful late save too.
