According to reports, Steven Gerrard’s side are among a growing list of admirers in the 22-year-old – which includes Ajax and PSV Eindhoven in his homeland, French club Stade Reims, Atalanta in Serie A and Southampton.

The robust 6’1” midfielder rose to prominence this season having recovered from a knee injury earlier in his career at FC Volendam to earn a move to the top flight and has played in several roles in the middle of the park for Heerenveen this season - defensive midfield, box-to-box and in a position just off the striker.
