Rangers linked to multi-talented £5m-rated Dutch midfielder Joey Veerman

Rangers are said to be on the trail of one of Dutch football’s highly-rated prospects – Heerenveen’s Joey Veerman.

According to reports, Steven Gerrard’s side are among a growing list of admirers in the 22-year-old – which includes Ajax and PSV Eindhoven in his homeland, French club Stade Reims, Atalanta in Serie A and Southampton.

The robust 6’1” midfielder rose to prominence this season having recovered from a knee injury earlier in his career at FC Volendam to earn a move to the top flight and has played in several roles in the middle of the park for Heerenveen this season - defensive midfield, box-to-box and in a position just off the striker.

A fee of around £5m is reported to be required to prise him away from his homeland, according to The Scottish Sun – but Rangers could have cash incoming with Glen Kamara expected to be a transfer target this summer as well as reported interest in Ianis Hagi from Lazio and Sevilla.
