Rangers are said to be leading the race for KV-Oostende striker Fashion Sakala, according to reports.

Steven Gerrard’s side were linked with a move for the Zambian forward last month during the transfer window, and a pre-contract could now be arranged for the frontman who has hit 13 goals in 25 games with his deal expiring.

Reports suggest Rangers are favourites for his signature, however the Belgian club’s sporting director has denied contact has been made over the player who Oostende hope to retain on a longer deal.

The Scottish Sun says Steven Gerrard’s side lead the way with Lille and a host of English and La Liga clubs in Spain keeping an eye on the striker but Gaultier Ganaye said: “We know there is a lot of interest in Fashion but we have had no approach from Rangers to the club with regards to a pre-contract.

“We are hoping we can convince Fashion to remain at KV Oostende and continue his development with us."
