Former Celtic goalscorer John Hartson says focus should be on how Steven Gerrard’s team handle being top of the table going into the January 2 fixture – but ex-Rangers forward Mark Hateley turned the Welshman’s opinion on its head and insists pressure is on Parkhead – from top to bottom.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Rangers win over Hibs and Celtic’s three-goal victory in Hamilton, Hartson said: “Let’s see Rangers now. Celtic have always been at the top, they haven’t had to deal with being behind.

“Rangers have a massive lead, it’d be a travesty now if they were to let this lead go. All the pressure now turns on Rangers."

But Hateley opposed his view on the Ten10 podcast and tweeted: “Despite what is suggested by others, pressure is all on Celtic – Celtic manager, Celtic team, Celtic board.”
