The Cherries duo have entered the final six months of their contract and are allowed to speak to interested parties like Rangers.

Due to his age, Ofoborh will require a cross-border compensation fee, while Simpson won't because he is over 23.

Tindall confirmed he had spoken with Steven Gerrard but also that Bournemouth have been speaking to the players for a “number of weeks”.

“Obviously both players are out of contract at the end of the season," he told the Daily Echo.

"Stevie Gerrard did make contact with me a few days ago.

“They are free to talk to teams due to their contract situation and Rangers are in a position to be able to do that now.

“Nothing has been finalised as yet in terms of ‘are they signed, or are they going to be signing there?’

“But they are in a position to talk to them, to see what the opportunities might be for them in the future at Rangers Football Club.”

Defender Simpson, 24, has played just 35 times for the club across six seasons, while Ofoborh, a 21-year-old midfielder, has five Bournemouth appearances to his name.

They would join Aberdeen star Scott Wright and young Ibrox defender Nathan Patterson in committing their future to Rangers.

Tindall added: “What happens now moving forward, we will have to wait and see in the next few days.”
