The all-action midfielder was a second-half substitute, but his appearance only lasted six minutes after a collision in the middle of the park forced him to limp off with a knock on his ankle.

The 32-year-old was in visible pain as he was replaced by Bongani Zungu, and is now waiting to learn more about the injury and how long he faces on the sidelines.

Rangers assistant manager Gary McAllister briefly discussed the injury at this morning’s press conference and said: “Scott Arfield is on his way to get a scan and we are awaiting results. It was disappointing to see him leave the pitch and hopeful the scan is not too bad.”

Rangers also have Ryan Jack out in the central midfield area and McAllister added the club will need to be “patient” with the former Aberdeen man’s recovery.
