Rangers aiming to wrap up three signings on transfer deadline day

Already this year the Ibrox club has been busy tying up January pre-contract deals for Bournemouth defender Jack Simpson and Aberdeen’s Scott Wright.
Both are currently lined up to join in the summer but Rangers are seeking to expedite their transition and are believed to be working up to the deadline to try and strike a deal for an early move for both.

Hide AdSimpson is a ball-playing central defender who can operate at left-back while winger Wright has shown up well for Derek McInnes’ Dons in meetings with Rangers.
Last month Steven Gerrard said an early transfer would be a “bonus” while the Pittodrie boss admitted a January move would be best for both parties, but he would have no problem using Wright while he was still an Aberdeen player.
They could take the positions left in the squad of winger Jordan Jones’ loan move to Sunderland and the impending deal at Derby County for defender George Edmundson.
Rangers are also seeking to tie up a deal for Simpson’s Bournemouth team-mate Nnamdi Ofoborh, who the club has been in talks with over a pre-contract similar to the defender’s agreement.
Discussions with the Cherries’ midfielder had not progressed to quite as advanced a stage as those with Simpson when Vitality Stadium boss Jason Tindall updated the moves with local press last week, and Simpson’s summer deal was shortly concluded. A deal for Ofoborh is expected to require compensation due to the player’s age and development.
