Rangers face top seeds Benfica in Portugal tomorrow night – but Steven Gerrard’s side is fancied to usurp the Portuguese side and finish at the summit of the Europa League section.

BoyleSports have cut Rangers’ chances of topping Group D and also of them WINNING the Europa League on the back of a nine-game winning run and two European clean-sheet wins in a row over Lech Poznan and Standard Liege.

The Gers are now 11/8 from 5/2 to win the group and odds on them taking the trophy later this season have also shrunk. Benfica remain ½ favourites.

However Celtic’s trickier path and single point from games against AC Milan and OSC Lille has seen Neil Lennon’s men drift to 10/1 from 4/1 to top Group H. They are, however, being well backed to bag their first win of the campaign at 4/9 from 1/2 when they welcome Sparta Prague to Glasgow.

Celtic are a 66/1 chance of going all the way while Rangers’ chances of silverware are in to 40/1 from 50/1 pre-tournament.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Rangers have the upper hand so far this season of the Glasgow pair and it’s no surprise that punters are giving them a huge chance of progressing following a strong start in Europe. If they avoid defeat on Thursday their chances of topping the group will undoubtedly shorten further.”
