SPL Fanzone: Rangers

With Rangers sitting pretty above Motherwell and tricky SPL fixtures successfully negotiated, off-the-pitch financial matters at Ibrox remain problematic.

HMRC’s public pursuit of Rangers over alleged misuse of employee benefit trusts lands shortly, with anything between no penalty through to a million-pound judgment putting the club in administration possible.

Craig Whyte has been bullish and, hopefully, recognises that the post-Murray era makes honesty and transparency essential, not optional extras. This, more than anything else to date, will set the tone for future relations.

On international matters, it’s been heartening to see Allan McGregor and Steven Naismith now firmly established as fixtures in a revitalised Scotland squad. They fully deserve it for their form in recent seasons.
