SPL Fanzone: Rangers

Rangers swept away last week’s drab display at Ibrox by putting a previously-vibrant Hearts on the canvas.

To say nothing of retaining an awesome record of winning every SPL away game and not comceding a single goal. That is not just attributable to the Dorin Goian/Carlos Bocanegra pairing at centre back but superb shot-stopping from Alan McGregor and a team which collectively defends far higher and more energetically than it did under Sir Walter Smith.

Two pieces of skill won it, Steven Whittaker with a mazy run from his own half and a lovely ball for Steven Naismith to dispatch and a beautiful 50-yard ball from Bocanegra met by a Nikica Jelavic volley which simultaneously cushioned and redirected the ball. Sublime.

Note to Ian Black: If you don’t want to be ridiculed, try kicking the round white thing instead of your nearest opponent
