Miller set for third Rangers spell

FORMER Rangers striker Kenny Miller is set for a third stint at Ibrox after leaving Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.

Miller, who has long been linked with a return to the club has reportedly agreed a two-year deal with the League One champions after negotiating his release from the MLS outfit.

And McCoist is eager to snap up Miller’s former strike partner Kris Boyd from Kilmarnock at the end of the season, as the Gers prepare for next season, but the Rangers boss has made no contact with the Rugby Park side as they battle to avoid the dreaded play-off spot in the Premiership - a task not helped by a 5-0 reversal at Tynecastle.

Miller said last night: “[Vancouver] wanted to go in one direction, I wanted to go in another direction.”

The Daily Record are also reporting that Miller has agreed a deal less than the wage packets paid by Charles Green to the likes of Arnold Peralta and Sebastian Faure. (Daily Record)

No bonuses for me or players, McCoist confirms

ALLY McCoist has said that neither he nor his players are in line for a bonus payout after winning League One.

It was revealed at the weekend that chief executive Graham Wallace is in line to pick up a 100 per cent bonus on top of his £315,000 salary if he impresses in his first year in the role - and he’ll also pocket an extra £25,000 thanks to Rangers coming top and earning promotion to the Championship.

But McCoist - who took a 50 per cent pay cut this year - said it had been the same last year when Rangers won League Two, admitting: “In football, that’s quite unusual. It’s probably the only time I can remember it happening.

“Our lads haven’t mumped and moaned about it. They’ve just got the job done, both last season and this season.”

And the Ibrox boss hit out at the turmoil surrounding the club, adding: “It’s frustrating that we’re doing our jobs but there still seems to be a lot of uncertainty surrounding the club. If we could go into next season with the fans and board in unison it would be the best thing for everybody.” (Various)

Dundee chief questions Hamilton score

DENS Park chief executive Scot Gardiner has suggested that questions may have been asked if Hamilton’s extraordinary 10-2 mauling of Morton had handed Accies the title over Dundee.

The New Douglas Park side scored a staggering five goals in each half as they demolished basement club Morton - but Gardiner said: “That was a ridiculous score, wasn’t it? Other people are going to be asking questions - no doubt.

“People will ask how they got a score like that. We don’t care now because we won the league. Thankfully on the day, the victory here [over Dumbarton] meant we finished with more points than anyone else because if it had gone to goals scored or difference I am sure there would have been a lot of people asking questions.

“It is bizarre and there is no one in the game who can say that it’s not bizarre.” (The Herald)

Morton made it hard for us, insists MAC

HAMILTON hitman Mickael Antoine-Curier - who hit five against Kenny Shiels’ men - hit back at Gardiner’s claims, insisting Morton made it hard for Accies.

The ex-Hibs striker said: “They made it hard for us, they’ve got to take credit as well.

“They had a penalty, they scored two great goals. If they had chucked it, they would never have actually scored goals. They would have played like a friendly game.” (The Herald)

Imrie blasts Gardiner and Hartley

DOUGIE Imrie - who netted both Morton goals - echoed Antoine-Curier, accusing Gardiner of a lack of respect, and hitting out at Dundee boss Paul Hartley, who suggested such scorelines don’t even happen in amateur football.

Imrie insisted: “People can say what they want but nothing went right for us. We weren’t a bad side when we beat Dundee 1-0 two weeks ago then drew with Falkirk.

“It wasn’t acceptable at Hamilton. We hold our hands up. But for people to talk about pub scores is disrespectful. To brand us amateur is below the belt.” (Daily Record)

Shape up or face the drop, Johnston tells Killie flops

KILMARNOCK boss Allan Johnston has told his side they face a play-off battle if they can’t get things in order in the final two games of the season. Killie face St Mirren midweek and travel to Hibernian on Saturday - and Johnston called his team’s performance ‘embarrassing’ after fans called for Clark and Johnston’s heads during, and after, the 5-0 drubbing by Hearts.

‘Magic’ added: “We have to show more desire given the position we’re in and Hearts wanted it more than us. If we play like that we’re going to get relegated.” (Daily Record)
