Rangers ‘should sign Nadir Ciftci’, says Gough

FORMER Ibrox captain Richard Gough reckons Rangers should sign Nadir Ciftci as the club looks to return to Scottish football’s top flight.

Gough believes Mark Warburton needs to sign at least eight players to rebuild the depleted squad that has seen the likes of Lee McCulloch, Kris Boyd and Bilel Mohsni all leave in recent weeks.

And the former Scotland international believes Haris Vuckic and the Dundee United striker should be top of the list.

While Gough has already spoken of his admiration for Hibs talisman Scott Allan and Newcastle loan star Vuckic, he reckons Ciftci would be ‘ideal’ for Rangers.

He said in his Scottish Sun column: “Ciftci has already shown he can cut it at the highest level in Scotland and would be a hit at Ibrox.

“If you can keep him on the straight and narrow, what an asset the lad would be.”

Ciftci was reportedly a target for Celtic, and confirmed that he would not sign a contract extension at Tannadice to keep him at the club beyond May 2016.

And Gough thinks that a ‘knockdown fee’ could land Rangers the Turkish forward who he described as “strong, powerful and with an eye for goal.”
