Rangers open talks with Fox

Rangers have begun discussions with the powerful Fox Soccer Channel in the United States in the hope of cashing in on increased American interest in the Ibrox side.

Rangers have three Americans in their squad following the signing last week of US national team captain Carlos Bocanegra and midfielder Alejandro Bedoya, who have joined fellow countryman Mo Edu in Glasgow.

A partnership with the Fox Soccer Channel is being considered which would increase the club’s profile in the States and beyond. The network reaches more than 33 million cable and satellite subscribers in the US and the Caribbean.

Plans are also in place for Rangers to tour the US next summer.

Ali Russell, Rangers’ chief operating officer, revealed: “We are in initial discussions about developing a relationship with Fox and we feel there are exciting possibilities. There is increased interest in Rangers now that Carlos Bocanegra and Alejandro Bedoya have joined us and we are looking at supplying this new demand.

“We already have a very good following in America and Canada. There are 52 North American Rangers Supporters clubs.”
