Medical for Swede Mervan Celik at Rangers

SWEDISH midfielder Mervan Celik will have a medical in Glasgow today ahead of his proposed move to Rangers.

The Ibrox club said the 21-year-old would visit the city for fitness tests before any deal was finalised, after his agent claimed he had agreed a three-year contract.

The player is available under freedom of contract following the end of his deal with GAIS, although the Swedish club would be due compensation.

The Sweden Under-21 international can play in midfield, on either wing or up front.

Speaking about the player last week, manager Ally McCoist said: “He is a player that we have been looking at for a good while now and we’ve been in touch with his agent.

“He’s a young player who we have looked at in recent months and who has impressed us.”
